Our Services

What do we do?

The Initiative aims to make things as easy as possible for residents of all ages in the Three Towns to access health information, and services that will help improve their health.

We have developed a theme of hubs and services. We have an adult hub at the Three Towns Resource Centre, a Child and Family hub in Ardrossan at the James Moffat Centre and older people are catered for in outreach centres throughout the Three Towns and from the Health Information shop, at Hamilton Street, Saltcoats.

The Health Information Shop
Based right in the heart of the Three Towns, our Health Information Shop provides a wide selection of information and resources on health related matters, and is available to everyone including health professionals, general public and students. We can help you to access information on how to improve your health in areas such as healthy eating, access support groups/services and exercise. In addition we can research information on more specialised topics.

Three Towns Resource Centre
Three Towns Healthy Living are based in the Resource Centre Monday - Wednesday from 5-9pm allowing the opportunity for any local group/class with a health focus that requires a venue, to access the Centre.

Our services include:

General Exercise
We run free exercise programmes during the day and in the evening for all age groups. These classes usually run for 12 weeks and change frequently. Contact the Centre for further information. Details of our current activities and programmes can be found on our website in the ‘What’s On' section.

Moving On
Moving On offers confidential counselling and support to adult survivors of sexual abuse in the North Ayrshire area. It also offers training for voluntary and statutory organisations, to help them raise awareness of the effects of rape, sexual abuse and self-harm.

Stress Management
The Stress Management Initiative aims to provide coping mechanisms to help people deal with stress and its underlying causes. We use complimentary therapies i.e. aromatherapy, reflexology, different types of massage, breathing and relaxation techniques, exercise and dietary advice. Appointments are available on a one-to-one basis or we can provide workshops for groups.

Fit For Life Kids
Through referral from a GP, Practice Nurse or other health professionals, ‘Fit for Life Kids’ targets obesity in children from the ages of 5 to 16. Our physical activity coordinator will work in partnership with a food advisor to work closely with young people and their families to improve diet and exercise levels.

Good Morning Three Towns
'Good Morning Three Towns' is a free daily contact telephone support service for elderly, sick or disabled people living alone or with an equally vulnerable partner. Our Good Morning call operators telephone the client every morning at an agreed time to check that all is well. The client enjoys a cheery chat and the comfort of knowing that someone is caring for them.

Doing Well by People with Depression Lifestyle Coach
The lifestyle coach assists clients to explore difficulties and provide support to people suffering from depression. The coach will work with the client to develop a plan of action and provide information on local sources of support.

IT Buddy
The IT Buddy service allows people from the Three Towns to get assistance and training on how to use a computer on a one-to-one basis. Our buddies are volunteers who understand the issues facing people using a computer for the first time or needing to refresh their skills. Clients can access this service through an appointment based system.

Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteering is fundamental to Three Towns Healthy Living and you can get involved in a variety of ways including organising events, marketing, administration and many more. It’s a great way to meet new people, learn new skills and keep busy. We will pay your travel expenses, provide any required equipment, offer training, include you as a team member and listen to your ideas. We can also support you to set up a new group or service if you have your own ideas about improving the health of your community, or see a need in your area.

Room Available
The Three Towns Healthy Living Centre has the use of the Three Towns Resource Centre on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings when rooms are free to groups, voluntary and statutory organisations. Facilities at our Hamilton Street Office are also available at a small charge.

For information about any of our services call 01294 466901.
